Lesson Programs

The expert in anything..

was once a beginner

Our lessons are designed to give you the confidence and knowledge you need to ride safely and responsibly. You will not only learn the fundamentals of riding disciplines, but also how to care for and build a relationship with your horse partner. Working with horses has been shown to improve self-esteem, emotional awareness, patience, and problem-solving abilities.

We have lessons for all ages and ability levels, whether you're looking for your first horse experience or want to get back in the saddle!

All of our lessons are private

We believe that one-on-one lessons help our students to connect more successfully with their horse partner and instructor. However, if you'd like to bring a learning partner, we can arrange private group lessons for up to two students at once.

Western Lessons

Our Western lessons are designed for those who want to begin their equine journey or just want to get back in the saddle. These lessons cover the fundamentals of horse care and safety, as well as riding, barrel patterns, pole bending, and horsemanship.

Western Lessons available:

  • Western Riding Basics

  • Barrel and Pole Basics

  • Natural Horsemanship

English Lessons

Our English lessons are for all experience levels. These lessons focus on balanced riding in a shallow seat as well as hand and leg cues. Students will have a lot of opportunity to move further into English discipline.

English Lessons available:

  • English Riding Basics

  • Jumping Basics

  • Showmanship

Specialty Lessons

These lessons focus on our ranch's specialty, care and trails! We can discuss anything from what it takes to own a horse to how to become a trusting trail partner with these gentle giants. The most important thing is to relax, breath, and enjoy yourself!

Specialty Lessons available:

  • Own a Horse Lesson

  • Private Group Clinic

  • Trail Confidence

I love Rise and Ride! The staff is the best! The atmosphere is always fun and light hearted. My daughter and I take lessons and Liz and Holly are excellent teachers and role models for people learning to be better equestrians. They always have something going on at their ranch so I highly recommend booking a ride or a lesson today!!

Our Facility

Our private ranch is nestled on 40 acres of wooded land 30 minutes from West Michigan's lakeshore. We're surrounded by 800+ acres of state game land, and the Silver Creek horseman's campground and equestrian trails are just a short trot away.

We are a completely outdoor facility. Our lessons are held outside in all safe weather conditions throughout the year. We have both a round pen and a 80 x 60 arena. We are currently constructing a 100 x 120 outdoor arena, which should be completed by summer (weather depending).

Under the Michigan Equine Activity Liability Act, an equine professional is not liable for any injury to or death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from an inherent risk of the equine activity (PA 351 of 1994).
