Hi there, I’m Duck. 🦆 I’m a young ex-Amish Standardbred cart horse with a quiet nature and a little bit of play tucked in there too.
 

The ranch took their time getting to know me as I was shy at first. They gave me space to settle in, learn the new routine, and partner up with a few of the volunteers around here. Before long, that quiet little personality started coming through.
 

They had the vet take a good look at me too since they were suspecting something based on how I acted with the farrier. It turns out I already have full fusion from ringbone changes by just 6 years old. That tells a bit of a story about how hard I likely worked pulling a cart down hard roads. Easy trail riding suits my body well, while faster work with lots of tight turns is something we leave to other horses

I’ve made a couple good buddies in the pasture! Goose mostly and Buster when he isn't in a "mood". I’m pretty content hanging around with them! Every now and then, if I think nobody’s watching, that younger side of me comes out and play a little with Picasso or Bahu. 😉
 

Farrier days are still something I’m getting used to, but I stand there and do my best while everyone helps me feel comfortable.

I’m a trusty little partner who likes to putt along and feel important. Give me a kind rider and I’ll carry you down the trail steady as can be, looking mighty pleased with myself while I do it.
