My name is Arizona! I am a Thoroughbred mare with plenty of energy, curiosity, and a little bit of mischief mixed in. Before coming here, I was a racehorse! I even placed in some of my races, which I think is pretty impressive if I do say so myself. 😉

When my racing days came to an end, I was ready for a new challenge. I am the kind of girl who likes having something to do and figuring out what comes next. Luckily, some friends of the ranch knew me and thought I might fit right in with this herd and program. 💕

I am curious about everything. If there is something new nearby, I probably need to inspect it or just skip to picking it up with my mouth and tossing it around. Bottles, crops, ropes... you name it, I have probably tried carrying it around. I am also very interested in zippers on people's clothes, so keep an eye on your jacket around me! 👀

I love making friends too. Mabel the cow is especially fun, and every once in a while I cannot resist playfully chasing her around. Maybe I have a little cowhorse in me. I have also discovered that a few other mares here are pretty good partners for a little horsey nonsense. We will kick up our heels and bounce around together. 🐎💨💨

One of my favorite people here is a girl named Ellie, who has been working really hard to take care of from head to hoof. She uses cooling creams, brushes out my mane, trail training, and even practices things like standing nicely and holding my feet for the farrier. She has a lot of patience and I am learning that all of these little things are part of being a well-loved horse. ❤️

Underneath all of that silliness, I really am a mare who wants to do well. I am smart, energetic, and eager to please. I enjoy being given a challenge and figuring out what you are asking of me. After spending so much of my life knowing exactly what my job was on the racetrack, I am now learning that there are all kinds of fun things a horse can do.

This chapter of my life may look a little different than racing, but I think that is what makes it exciting. I get to explore, learn, make friends, and show everyone just how much personality can fit inside one curious little Thoroughbred.
