My story 💕

Hello there. I’m Tex. I am an American Quarter Horse, built for long trails and steady miles, but I did not always believe the world was steady. A long time ago, hands that should have been kind were not. It left me watchful and unsure of what people wanted from me.

Then my first real friend found me.

She kept me for many years and did the slow, patient work that heals a horse from the inside out. She taught me that a halter can mean supper, not fear. That a voice can be soft and still be strong. That a person can ask for something, and still keep me safe while I try to understand. It wasn’t easy for either of us, but I learned how to breathe again. I learned how to trust again. And oh, how I loved her for it. I brought her joy, and she gave me my life back.

2025 was a big for her, and she made a choice that took courage. She did not want me passed around, lost at auction, or in the wrong hands again. She wanted my next chapter to be built on the foundation we fought for. So she reached out to Rise and Ride Ranch, and they said yes.

When I came here, I wasn’t coming to a strange place. I was coming to family. My brother Apollo was here, and for a little while, we got to be together again. We rode the same paths, shared the same air, and stood close like horses do when they’re saying something without words. I’m grateful for that time, even though it ended too soon. I miss him, but I carry that reunion with me.

These days, you’ll find me on the trail, easy going and willing. I am not here to make things difficult. I only ask for kindness in return. I like to have a friend nearby when I’m doing something new, so if you’re the type who talks to your horse and laughs a little on the ride, we will get along just fine. I’ll give you my best miles. And if you offer me your trust, I’ll offer you mine. ♥︎
