My story 💕

Hello. My name is Daisy. 🌼 I'm a Belgian draft horse. My sister Peach and I came to the ranch after some hard years with an Amish family. A kind friend of the ranch got us out of that situation and looked after us for a while, and when she couldn't anymore she made sure we went somewhere safe. That is not a small thing, and I have not forgotten it.
 

There is one more thing worth knowing. Before we came here, Peach and I were staying on the very property where the sisters of this ranch grew up. We did not know it yet, but we were already standing in the same places they once stood. It's special how that happened.
 

When I arrived I was in decent shape besides a lame foot that needed addressing. My feet and teeth needed sorting out, and once they did everything else just fell into place.
 

I'll tell you what we've been working through with my foot, since it's part of my story. I've got changes in my front right foot and pastern that line up with sidebone and ringbone. Over the past several months I've gotten a lot of care to help balance things out, and we've managed to get me comfortable out in the pasture. What we've learned along the way is that trails just aren't something I should be doing regularly or for the long term.

For as big as I am, I'm really just a shy soul at heart. I tend to keep my head low and mind my own business, a habit I picked up over a lot of years where that felt like the safest way to be. I'm calm and I'm quiet, and I like to watch the world go by more than I like to be in the middle of it.

So these days I'm retired, living out my days in a quiet pasture with people and horses I can trust. ♥︎
